The quality Unit in the Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University

The Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University prepared its first self-study in 2004 in accordance with the World Federation of Medical Education (WFME) standards.

The College received the first visit to the educational activities in the period from 4-12-8 December 2005 from the external auditors of the WFME.

A report on the visit was prepared showing the strengths and weaknesses of the college. Then, steps were taken to establish a quality system for medical education.

The decision to establish the quality unit was issued in March 2007. Since then, the Quality Unit has prepared annual reports on a regular basis for self-evaluation of the Faculty overall performance.

There is close cooperation between the Quality Assurance Unit at the Faculty and the Quality Assurance Center at Cairo University.

The Center has conducted numerous visits to the Quality Assurance Unit at the Faculty to determine the progress of the work and provide technical support. The second self-study was prepared in 2010 according to the standards of the National Authority for Quality Assurance of Education and Accreditation.

The College received a visit in May 2011 and obtained accreditation in early 2012.

The current self-study is the third self-study conducted by the College, which has shown a remarkable development in all activities of the Faculty of educational and research activities and community service, which aims to continue to retain the confidence of the community in this ancient institution.

Methodology of work

The college self-study is an important step in the framework of the renewal of accreditation obtained in 2012. The College Council approved the start of the self-study in October 2016. The Dean of the College assigned the Quality Assurance Unit to prepare the self-study of the College. • The self-study team was formed and the main working group started its meetings to discuss the criteria announced by the Quality Assurance Authority until the steps of preparing the self-study were agreed upon.

Steps to prepare self-study:

1. Forming the team responsible for the self-study.

2. Selection of self-study teams.

3. The working groups shall be divided on the standards of self-study.

4. Identify the documents needed to be collected.

5. Identify tools to collect documents and documents.

6. Holding workshops and meetings to collect the required information.

7. Use of information and documents in writing self-study.

8. Review the self-study of the Dean and the agents and the self-study team.

9. Presentation of the main points of self-study to the College Council.

• The self-study was announced in various departments, departments and departments of the college as it was announced on the website of the college to inform the faculty members about starting the self-study.
• Workshops were held for the members of the faculty participating in the preparation of the self-study to define the items meet different criteria.
• The sub-working groups were formed according to the self-study criteria issued by the Quality Assurance and Accreditation Authority, 2015.
• Sub-working group meetings were held for discussion and training on action steps to meet the criteria.
• The core working group has identified the nature of the targeted information as well as identified / developed the appropriate tools for gathering information.
• Contacts were sent to the leadership of the college and the various departments to facilitate the task of the task forces in collecting data, documents and documents required
• The various task forces have contacted the different departments of the college to collect data, documents, questionnaires and documents for each criterion to meet different criteria
• The first draft of the self-study was prepared and reviewed by the core team members.
• The final draft was prepared and reviewed by the Dean and the agents.
• Self-study has been printed and distributed.

 

مسيرة الجودة فى كلية الطب جامعة القاهرة

قامت الكلية باعداد أول دراسة ذاتية عام 2004 وفقا لمعايير الفيدرالية العالمية للتعليم الطبى World Federation of Medical Education(WFME). واستقبلت الكلية أول زيارة لمناظرة الأنشطة التعليمية بها فى الفترة من 4/12-8/12/2005 من المراجعين الخارجيين بهيئة ((WFME وقد تم اعداد تقرير عن الزيارة اظهرت نقاط القوة ونقاط الضعف بالكلية ثم توالت بعد ذلك خطوات لانشاء نظام جودة للتعليم الطبي حتى صدر قرار إنشاء وحدة الجودة بالكلية فى مارس 2007 ومنذ ذلك الحين تعد وحدة الجودة تقارير سنوية بصورة منتظمة للتقييم الذاتى للأداء الكلى للكلية.

و هناك تعاون وثيق بين وحدة ضمان الجودة بالكلية ومركز ضمان الجودة بجامعة القاهرة، وقد قام المركز بعمل زيارات عديدة لوحدة ضمان الجودة بالكلية للوقوف على سير العمل بها وتقديم الدعم الفنى لها.

وقد تم اعداد الدراسة الذاتية الثانية عام 2010 وفقا لمعايير الهيئة القومية لضمان جودة التعليم والاعتماد واستقبلت الكلية زيارة في مايو 2011 وحصلت على الاعتماد في أوائل 2012.

وتعتبر الدراسة الذاتية الحالية هي الدراسة الذاتية الثالثة التي تقوم بها الكلية والتي أظهرت تطور ملحوظ في جميع أنشطة الكلية من أنشطة تعليمية و بحثية و خدمة مجتمعية والتي تهدف الى الاستمرار في الاحتفاظ بثقة المجتمع في هذه المؤسسة العريقة.
